Two Mile Run drains Pittsbrugh East End into the Allegheny River at Outfall A-22 near 32nd Street. The stream is entirely piped and underground and flows beneath the East Busway and railines that are among the first that served the CIty from the mid 19th century. The upper reaches of the watershed include portions of Chatham University campus, including the Howe Springs, and Shadyside.
ALCOSAN's typical year analysis reveals 59 overflow activations of the A22 Outfall for a total of 489 hours of overflow discharge accounting for 593 million gallons of overflow.
The upper A-22 shed is the site of two PWSA stormwater infrastructure projects with various elements of Green Infrastructure: (1) Woodland Road on the Shadyside campus of Chatham University and (2) Maryland Avenue.
